PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
  
• Unit: 4Heart – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC)
  
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
  
• Start Date: November 2, 2025
  
• End Date: February 1, 2026
  
• Duration: 13-week travel nursing contract
  
• Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (12-hour night shifts)
  
• Hours per Week: 36
  
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  
• Number of Positions: 3 PCU RN jobs available
  
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680–$1800
  

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
  
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown, progressive care, or PCU nursing experience
  
• Telemetry nursing experience required
  
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
  
• Experience with cardiovascular or vascular surgery patients (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) preferred
  
• CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) experience is a plus
  
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  
• Ability to adapt and float to other stepdown, med-surg, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed
  

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiovascular, vascular surgery, and medical cardiology patients
  
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
  
• Manage epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander
  
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
  
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
  
• Document accurately using Cerner EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
  
• Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and dress code (navy/white tops, navy bottoms, or all white scrubs)
