We are seeking a motivated and experienced Principal Investigator Archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources team in Round Rock, TX. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to lead and manage archaeological projects across Texas and surrounding states. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, field experience in Phase IIII investigations, and a deep understanding of state and federal preservation laws. This role offers room for professional growth and the chance to contribute to the continued expansion of our cultural resources program in Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and manage small to medium-sized archaeological projects and assist with larger ones.
  • Lead field teams conducting Phase IIII archaeological investigations.
  • Identify, collect, and analyze historic and prehistoric artifacts and site features.
  • Document research methods, fieldwork, and findings in accordance with professional and company standards.
  • Prepare and review archaeological site forms and report sections.
  • Assist in evaluating project alternatives and developing mitigation strategies for adverse effects on cultural resources.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical staff, and administrative personnel to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposals, budgets, and marketing materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Anthropology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interiors Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional archaeological experience (CRM experience preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas.
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit.
  • Field experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology within Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana.
  • Proven expertise in supervising and conducting Phase IIII fieldwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Experience working with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.
  • Ability to provide a professional writing sample (thesis, dissertation, or report).
  • Three professional references with contact information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Experience obtaining and managing a Texas Antiquities Permit.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Google Earth, and other GIS tools.
  • Strong background in laboratory analysis and curation.
