Open Call for Artists- Firehouse Art Center 2026-2027 Description The Firehouse Art Center is now acceptingapplications for our 2026/2027 exhibition calendar. OPEN JULY 21, 2025- NOVEMBER 16 The Firehouse Art Center is Longmont’s leading contemporary art center featuring national, regional, and local artists. Our beautiful National Historic Landmark building features two exhibitions spaces and over 1,000 square feet of space. We focus on accessible contemporary art that engages curiosity and conversation. Admission to the Firehouse is free and serves over 10,000 visitors each year. We were voted the Best Art Gallery in East Boulder County, for 10 years in a row and the Times Call Readers Choice for Best Art Gallery 8 years in a row. Our exhibits are regularly featured in local and regional news outlets including Boulder Weekly, Denver Westword, the Daily Times-Call, the Boulder Daily Camera, and the Longmont Leader. Our exhibitions committee consists of artists, art administrators, business professionals, curators and art collectors. Preference is given to submissions that are culturally relevant with a unique perspective and the ability to provide a diverse art experience. Cutting edge contemporary work and multi-disciplinary artists are strongly encouraged. Group exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed, as well as solo exhibition proposals from established and emerging artists in all mediums. The mission of the Firehouse Art Center is to inspire cultural awareness and human connection by providing life enhancing experiences through art exhibitions, art education and cultural events. The Firehouse Art Center is the leading contemporary art space in downtown Longmont. As a cornerstone of the Creative District, we exhibit thought provoking work in all mediums, including installation, film and performance art. (Except for online application deadline, exhibit timeline is subject to adjustments). Application Requirements Please read this section carefully. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered. The applicant’s name must appear on all materials submitted. All materials must be submitted online by 10/15/2024 via the CaFÉwebsite. Digital Images —In order to be considered for this project, the applicant must electronically submit images of artworks through the online CaFÉ system. Artistswho wish to submit kinetic, sound or media works have the opportunity to upload up to two video files. Label JPG files as follows: Lastname_Firstname_Title.jpg (For Example: Picasso_Pablo_Blue.jpg) IMPORTANT: if submitting audio or video files, do not use them as your very first image. They must be submitted last in your image sequence. If an artist does not have access to a computer, s/he/they may call303-651-2787 to make arrangements to use a computer at the Firehouse Art Center. Eligibility Criteria Who May Apply This project is open to all artists in the continental US. The Firehouse Art Center is committed to sharing the voices of artists from a broad diversity of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, sexual orientation, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, and mental or physical disability. Can a team apply? Group exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed, as well as solo exhibition proposals from established and emerging artists in all mediums. If applying as a team, please submit one résumé for the team, with no more than one page per team member.
