Emergency Services Clinician - PRN

Location: 241 Greenhouse Road, Lexington, VA

ROCKBRIDGE AREA COMMUNITY SERVICES

RACS is currently seeking a motivated, qualified individual to work in our coverage area of Rockbridge and Bath County, and the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. RACS will provide training, supervision, and education opportunities specific to the position.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated PRN Emergency Services Clinician to provide vital crisis intervention services for individuals and families experiencing mental health and substance use crises. This is an as-needed position with primary coverage needed for overnight and weekend on-call shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete pre-admission screening and facilitate hospital admissions/discharges.
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling during mental health or substance use emergencies.
• Deliver motivational therapy and/or DBT-informed interventions to clients and families in crisis.
• Attend civil commitment hearings and assist with hospital discharge planning.
• Collaborate with care teams and community partners to ensure timely, effective support.

Schedule & Availability

• PRN, as-needed position - flexibility required to fill across shifts.
• Primary need for overnight and weekend on-call coverage

Professional Growth:

• Opportunity to obtain clinical supervision hours toward licensure is available.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in human services related field, mental health, and/or substance abuse experience, and licensed/licensed eligible in VA as a LPC, LCSW, or LCP.
• The ability to function in a high paced and time pressured environment is necessary.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Working Knowledge of the DSM, mental health and substance use assessments, treatment, crisis assessment and intervention strategies for clients of all ages
• Must be certified or eligible to be certified as a pre-screener by the CSB and Virginia DBHDS.

Probationary Period : All persons that are newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted into a Rockbridge Area Community Services position must serve a new 6-month probationary period.
